Do you think they make the large the average size for me as a marketing ploy? Sort of like you need a size smaller than normal when you buy expensive women's clothes?

He looks so sad. I feel really bad for him. He's probably homeless and needs help.
Where are the nicknames from?

Man Flip, thanks for the warning about that site. "Quantum mechanics do it in leaps?" That's just stupid. I'd hate to have had some fellow physicist walk in and see some retarded joke that doesn't make alot of sense.

Yet another reason to go with the penguin: Linux is harder to hack. Maybe next time around we can save the country by letting him count the votes.

Dude! I could have lived without that! I have no spare time! Which leads to the question "What am I doing here in the first place?" Okay, feeling guilty.. gotta go..

You know, I think I have to disagree with you leroy, despite your argument being quite convincing. I do worry about how Europeans see us. Let's face it, our country is fast going down the toilet. I look at American teevee and all I can think of is Roman bread and circuses. How many people in our universities and research based industries are Americans? We need the brain power we get from Europe and Asia. How long before it stops coming?
I think this whole idea that domestic issues are more important is exactly what got Bush reelected. What did people who make very little money (like my mom and dad and grandma) use to base their decisions on? Domestic policies regarding moral issues. What should they have based their opinion on? Perhaps an even less than basic understanding of world politics. People don't talk about the power of the German Mark anymore. They talk about the Euro. Why? Because there are getting to be enough people on this earth that we all need to work together to stay afloat. America is the guy at the back of the lifeboat eating all the rations and not doing any rowing. This sort of attitude of egotistical isolationism is going to get us nowhere.
I don't think the people who voted for Bush did so because they were uninformed. I think all of us intellectuals did our fair share of campaigning to family and friends. I think the problem is what Americans value. I am in country where you can still see buildings that were destroyed in the second world war and are still not rebuilt. In Belgium and the Netherlands, there is a national holiday on the days the Nazis left those respected countries. Everyday people here are reminded what happens when one country doesn't care about the inhabitants of the others. I don't think Europeans are more informed about Bush and that is why they hate him. I just think they are reminded everyday that war is an atrocity. Yesterday I was told that 90% of Germans are against war, mostly becasue of all the devastation resulting from WWII and the massive amount of CIVILLIAN lives lost. In America, it is only as gruesome as you decide it will be by choosing your news station wisely. It is like we have forgotten all the emotional imagery of Vietnam since there are no longer any visible scars, only black and white text in history books.
Yeah, splat, it is a nice thought to send out money and such to people in these countries. But can we buy back the lives of the civillians killed by our army? I don't think people want us to send them free stuff. I think they want us to stop treating them like our bitches. I think the policies of our government have a much bigger effect on the world and the world's view of us than we do as individuals. Even a large number of indiviuals, unless they be millionaires and not grad students, couldn't really do nearly as much as our government.
Anyhoo, this has been a long horrible post and I did not intend to start such a debate with the funny picture. But arguing is fun, it's sort of a favoured pasttime of us intellectuals, you know?

He's also the composer for the Harold and Maude soundtrack. It makes me so proud to be an American.
