Worst songs of all time I was watching bad tv last night and wanted to ask all of you for some information: what is the worst or most embarrasing cd in your cd collection? Free downloads don't count, you have to have PAID for this one.
When I cashed in my accumulated points and graduated to the next level of cool in the RPG known as high school, I was forced to leave behind a large subset of the uncool albums at the local CD Exchange. (This was part of the agreement mandated upon joining the "smart kids" clique and getting to date girls). The greatest of these exchanges was when I used the "Trade 4 Used for 1 New" policy and gave:
- Ace of Base - The Sign
- Paula Abdul - Forever Your Girl
- Hammer - 2 Legit 2 Quit
- and Wilson Phillips (self-titled)
in exchange for the then hot Batman Forever soundtrack. Still have that one, by the way.
I would probably be most embarrassed for people to find out how much Weird Al Yankovic is still on my shelf, including the rare and not-much-coveted collaboration between Al and Wendy (formerly Walter) Carlos where they perform all of Peter and the Wolf with synthesizers.
someone at metafilter suggests compiling a CD of the worst 15 tracks that you own (and have paid for, natch). Nice contributions there including a long debate on the merits of "We Built This City" by Starship.
So Jason made me sign up for this site just so I can post the following: Bon Jovi, Keep the Faith . I had troubled teenage years.
Deep Blue Something's "Home" -- the CD with Breakfast at Tiffany's. Won't make that mistake again. Also, Hole's "Pretty on the Inside."
WHOOOOOOAAAAAAA! WE'RE HALF WAY THERE!
Oh, crap. That wasn't even Keep the Faith, that was Slippery When Wet! (winner, best album title of the year, 1986)
wow, I must have horrible taste... I like "we built this city" by Jefferson Starship, and I would not be embarrased to own Bon Jovi. hmmm... And, if anyone says anything about Mr Big, "to be with you" I'll just start crying... I love that song.
I guess I would have to say one of the millions that I am embarrased to say I bought is 'N Sync--don't even know which one. I have no excuse... I'm just a 'pop' kinda girl, I guess.
I didn't buy the Space Jam soundtrack, but the fact that I didn't throw it away is probably an indictable offense. Witness:
"Who says the bunny can't rock? Ya BUGGIN!
Who says Bugs don't make ya hop? Ya BUGGIN!"
I own 7 albums that contain 7 different songs in the "Top 40" alone... Can you guess which ones?
javelina: when you shop largely at 50-cent (fitty cent!) vinyl sales, you're going to pick up some captain and tenille and neil diamond from time to time. It's just the nature of the game.
I have a "remix" of #40, Supertramp's The Logical Song, done by some band named Scooter wherein the singer's voice is sped up so much that it sounds like a female chipmunk on helium, nay, hydrogen. I obtained this song from some guy's unprotected laptop hard drive at JP's coffee shop. (By the way, people, turn on some security when you go out and use the wi-fi.) The song is quite an assault on your ears, especially considering that the singer is sped up so much and yet the song still manages to clock in at over 8 minutes.
Still haven't deleted it, though.
Someone needs to be biting me now.
I'm going to be disappointed if In the Year 2525 isn't on that CD mix.
No, but "... in the year three thousand and thirty..." will be.
Remember, everybody wants to be a DJ.
I must say that I owned Bon Jovi, Slippery When Wet, but on a cassette not CD, so it doesn't count. And loved it at the time. I think I was 10.
Oh yeah, and I had MC Hammer, 2 Legit and Paula Abdul on cassettes as well.
And I think I have a Spice Girls single (CD this time) somewhere. I should probably find it and let the cats play with it.
"... let the cats play with it:" I like to think that if Lulu were a ruthless ganster type that this would be her signature way for disposing of enemies:
"What should we do with them, boss?"
"I think, I think we oughter let the cats play with 'em."

I'll go first :
"Its a Sunshine Day: The Best of the Brady Bunch." This album topped the charts and number 108. It should be burned, yet it is still in my collection.
