World's Fastest and What Fast Looks Like -- two stunning posts collecting videos of people performing at top speed, from a 9.18second Rubik's Cube solution to skydiving at 614mph (no joke).
at 200 mph you cover 293' every second. For you drag race guys that's a 1/4 mile every 4.5 seconds.
at 347 mph you cover 509 ft every second. Thats a 1/4 mile every 2.6 seconds
Unsurprising fact. There are no grade crossings on TGV rail lines. every road is either bridged over or tunneled under.

Wow. If I hadn't seen the video of the world's fastest expert minesweeper, I wouldn't have believed the time. Back in my heyday (i.e. the world was new, and I was an undergrad), I was proud of my 89 second score.
