Those goddamn Car Warranty robocalls Via natedogg, another investigation by Rob Cockerham. This one is into the telemarketing calls about 'extending your vehicle's warranty'. For a while I was getting one or two of these a week, which is misplaced microtargeting at best.
The real gem, though, is this handy-dandy Telemarketer Counter-script -- an arch and disruptive piece of info design.
About 1% of you will know what I mean, but those calls -- cyborg drones, disconnected from any reality, hell-bent in their purpose -- remind me of the Sylandro probes from the old Star Control game. <-- the dorkiest thing I've written this week.
i get one call a week but i always hang up or let it go to voicemail. i guess i'll see what i can learn next time.
I have gotten a few of these but none in a long time *fingers crossed*. I also love the comments on his site where you choose a robot avatar as your picture (just a weird thing to have).
The page was updated with responses from dealerships. Mostly: if it isn't a scam outright it is usually next to impossible to get a reimbursement from the company for a legitimate repair.
I'm part of that 1%, mrflip.
Will suing them work?

They wouldn't sell me a warranty on my Honda, either. I was sad, and told the nice salesman that I was sad. He felt bad for me.
