Shimano takes the deraileur to the next level, adds "shift by wire" technology. In response the fixie community banned ball bearings calling them "modern conveniences that detract from the purity of bicycling". Henceforth any metal on metal connections will remain bearing free, lubed only with coffee and/or tattoo ink (double shot espresso only please).
I've been riding without ball bearings for 7 years now and you don't see me crying. Hell, I even took off my seat and got rid of a wheel - if you're bicycle needs more than one wheel and you need to sit down to exercise, you're doing something wrong.
Think you're badass?! I've been fix push skateboarding for the last 7 years
Ahh just when I am filled with the ennui of another less then stimulating day dealing with coworker inadaquacies and government specification minutiae I log into AE and what do I see?
SG WITH A SLAM ON THE FIXIE BOYZ!!! YEAAAHHHH!!!
SG if I ever meet you in person remind me to give you a dollar.

That's...actually pretty funny.
Also, the innovation sounds pretty cool too. Now it will only take 20 years to get cheap enough for me to be interested!
