The Salem Hypothesis - Is there a correlation in the scientific world between subscribing to creationism and having an engineering degree and if so why? Can I also add another group which is the people who go into theoretical particle physics because they want to understand the mind of God?
A lot of engineers are idiots.
I've also noticed the 'God squad' accumulation of physicists in relativity/cosmology/high energy theory.
TTJ: I'd prefer to think that a lot of people in general are idiots.

Wow. Anecdotally, I have actually only noticed this go the other way. The only 3 creationists I've met were a physicist, a biologist and an astronomer. Go figure.
Regardless, I love this possible explanation of the trend: Involvement by engineers in "the rather difficult subjects of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics", allowing them to "develop confusing and yet authoritative-sounding arguments which are unintelligible to laymen."
