The 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches of All Time - just completely solid bottom to top. I'd vote in more Monty Python, but when you can find 48 sketches compellingly funny enough to push "Ass Pennies" and "More Cowbell" down to #49 and #50 you have a good list.
Do NOT open this link unless you are prepared to spend the next couple hours revisiting old favorites.
Ringing in for a couple favorites: #36 "Mind Match", aka the "Double your Orphans" sketch (I'm going to keep saying "Triple your Orphans" if that's OK with everyone); #29 "Argument to Beethoven's Fifth" by Sid Caesar and Nanette Fabray (whose opening mirrors the International Silent Debate Championships); the commentary for #15 Word Association is right on.
Some favorites that can't really be called omissions -- Cause of Cancer (KiTH, starring Phil J); Bikini Inspector, I Speak No English (also KiTH); The Quotable Caddyshack (online nowhere, as video or transcript), ¿Quién es más macho? (SNL, also not available, but check out what's #7 on the google search); The Cheese Shop, philosopher's song, Australian Table Wines, and the Lumberjack Song from Monty Python. And, of course, Some People Do Not Like Celebrities by The State's Michael Ian Black.
Also interesting: Chappelle's show rings in with 3 top 50 skits from its two seasons, and the State with 4 from its three seasons.

I find this to be funnier than the vanilla ice gag--just because it so cleverly captured Snow
After pablo's comment I had my fingers crossed that the one they picked was the pre-taped call in show...and it was. God I love that one.
Also, be aware that this list is hosted at nerve.com so if you click around you might see some boobs or something. I say this because if it is being blocked by your workplace that is why. I didn't get any SEX-AY banner ads but I presume that might also be a possibility.
Wow, Snow as Popeye is a great gag that I can't believe I never thought of before. That was pretty funny.
Someone forgot "Girl Drink Drunk".
That one rocks. Except I always thought it was "Chick Drink Drunk". All my catchphrases are crumbling about me.
Yeah, I forget how to do that linky thingy, but:
http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/12/25/eddie-murphy-channels-james-brown-video/
has my vote as a top contender. Forget your dead parrot high brow comedy. This is in your face, I ain't gotta think funny.
Long live the Godfather of Soul!
They forgot some recent stuff, like "Dick in a box" and "Lazy Sunday". I know those are songs, but they included "porcupine racetrack", which is lame. I have to say I think one of the best ones in terms of lasting power and comedy/drama is #29, the argument set to Beethoven's 5th. No words, no current events- very universal.
Nerve is capitalizing on the interest in this story with the infinitely more arguable 50 Greatest Commercial Parodies. You can't ignore any ad campaign with Pit-Pat! (It's the new Ding Dong King Kong Sing Song burger!) Also, D'Ump, B'Owl, B'Ouger, or T'Ird. Even with all the SNL, no EYCH? (the hairball remover that cats ask for by name?).
man I lose. I thought #2 was going to be #1.
I think given some time that the Jimmy Kimmel/ Sarah Silverman "I'm fucking (enter name here)" war would warrant making a list like this as well.
Buckwheat Sings....definitely one of my all time favorites, glad to see it made the list.
: D
This Patron ad -- homage or ripoff of Sid Caeasar/Nanette Fabray?
So -- I pulled this up by hitting search for 'sketch', which pulled up
A) this earlier more idiosyncratic list linked by tha 'dogg, and
B) This bygone teapot tempest over a band playing Dylan's "Masters of War" at a HS talent show.
The 1963 song ends with the lyrics: "You might say that I'm young. You might say I'm unlearned, but there's one thing I know, though I'm younger than you, even Jesus would never forgive what you do ... And I hope that you die and your death'll come soon. I will follow your casket in the pale afternoon. And I'll watch while you're lowered down to your deathbed. And I'll stand o'er your grave 'til I'm sure that you're dead."
..."It's just Bob Dylan's song. We were just singing Bob Dylan's song ... If you think it has to do with Bush that's because you're drawing your own conclusions. We never conveyed that Bush was the person we were talking about,"
Awesome to see Bush's rhetorical bullshit turned against him:
[Bush talked] about the "false comfort of appeasement." This is being seen in some quarters as a slam on Senator Obama. Is this in any way directed at Senator Obama?
MS. PERINO: It is not. ... I understand when you're running for office you sometimes think the world revolves around you -- that is not always true and it is not true in this case.

Needs more Mr. Show with Bob and David. Maybe 'monsters of megaphone' or 'mr happy's fun time abortion clinic - we'll bring out the kid in you!' or 'coupon - the movie'
