RIP - W of MTW
I'm not sure that many here remember the origins of Friday lunch, which I understand is now convened on thursdays (or if anyone cares) - it started as a meeting for those choosing to skip friday's relativity course. I recall that Jay and Todd were among the founders, I showed up most weeks, but I wasn't taking the course, so didn't have the incentive that they did.
Well, this friday (er - thursday), maybe you can bow your heads and recognize a moment of peace for one man in the trinity that gave you the lunch hour you've enjoyed for lo these many years.

I'm sure they meant well, but "Physicist Who Coined the Term ‘Black Hole,’" rings leaden, damning with faint praise. Of all the accomplishments in one of the most storied careers in science, the one that achieves headline prominence is a coinage?
I've several times run across books in the UT library with a 'from the library of John Wheeler' stamp. I've been able to resist the temptation to swap with a newer copy so far...
