Why the Lucky Stiff's Poignant Guide to Ruby - One of these days you're going to up one of these nifty scripting languages like the kids use nowadays, just so you can do a little regexp automating here, a little one-off applet there, right? Probably what you've been waiting for is a hilarious (as these things go) introduction to said language, one with a Greek Chorus of cartoon foxes and Robert Smith's endorsement. Well, here ya go. Open first to Section 3 to verify there's an actual guide ahead, the unleash the weird beginning.
(By the way, if you have ever wanted to pick up a programming language, this really _is_ a good guide, chunky bacon and all. You also can't go wrong choosing python as your language, in which case I'd start with this far more conventional learn-to-program-picking-up-python-along-the way free book.)
