There's a burrito stand in DC that does the same thing - must admit, it's a bit shocking at first.

I'm surprised that the word "Freakonomics" didn't appear in that article since there was a big section about (roughly) this topic ("the bagel guy").

This guy thinks so too. I also remembered reading about a coffee shop that works entirely on "pay what you can" or "honor system" so I dredged that up too.

Oops, I linked to the '03 model and not today's

We have a vending box at my office based on the honor system. (1 dollar).

Its usually short every month, but, construction is filled with a bunch of common fucks.

One of the things I remember about the bagel guy in the freakonomics thing was that in the really rich offices he had a higher loss then the smaller businesses. they casually explored some theories as to why that might be, but one thing they never did realise is rich motherfuckers dont carry short money bitches! He makes six figs a year, aint nothing in his wallet smaller than a 10.

When are we going to set up an in-jokey 'AE Post Reply hall of fame?'

We have a fridge at Kung Fu that sells water on an honor system. My guess is that it is NEVER short. Of course it helps that the guy managing it could kick your ass.

When we have a HOF Post tag? :)

Is this one HOF worthy in some way that I can't see? Or was that just a random thought?

I thought the sidebar was pretty much the HOF, anyway. With the crack pipe and the Pink Killers girl and everything.

I thought TTJ's reply was hilarious. Possibly that has to do with me picturing him saying it.
