oops that should be www.a123systems.com

heh also see http://www.a123racing.com/ which sells the batteries set up for the RC car crowd....

Its funny, my wife only has about a 3 mile commute now. I almost want to build her an electric car, as the commute is really hard on the Geo. Gas motors do NOT like to be run cold all the time. Wrecks oil, introduces acids, lots of crap. Way increases my maintenance load i will have to start changing the oil every 1000 miles or less if this keeps up. Worst thing you can do to a car mechanically is not drive it enough (FLIP!).

Buy her a bike. A 3 mile commute takes like, (back of the envelope), 8 seconds.

Bikes aren't so picky about short commutes.

Reid, are you kidding? Bicycles are for poor people and minorities only.

You forgot dirty hippies, javelina.

"Bikes aren't so picky about short commutes."

Yeah, but bicyclists are picky about riding in very cold rainy conditions like you see in DC. It was a gorgeous morning but I don't see javelina's bike in the lab. I assume that had something to do with the 32 degrees outside this morning.

Don't forget about self righteous grad students. ;)

fucking awesome, all around. (slow clap).

Because it is relevant, I thought I'd share: I decided to start training for the triathlon today by biking to my 8:30 am dentist appointment. Fortunately I bike slowly, so the wind chill wasn't a factor.

And don't bring bowling into this, Nate.

We have a bicycle. My wife was never a bike rider, even as a kid (overprotective parents). The day she starts riding her bike to work is the day I stand on my head naked in Dupont Circle.

No one wants that day. Trust Me

<rubbing eyes in vain effort to erase image from brain> I like riding my bike to work (ironically, I stopped because it was too efficient... walking burned more calories), but I wouldn't want to try to cross Rockville Pike at morning rush hour, either.
