So you just got back from costa rica and that bump on your head just won't go away. I wonder what it could be?

For our honeymoon my wife and I went to Belize and Guatemala... Yup, she had a nice lump in her head when we returned. She keeps the little fella in a jar in the linen closet. I watched the derm extract it; fascinating stuff.
They call it a Torsolo down there, and it's essentially a human botfly.
great, tina wants to go on a trip down there. Such a beautiful place, but I'm not a huge fan of the whole maggots in the head thing.
Biodiversity can be disturbing. I was staying in Los Tortugas' guest bunkhouse in Tamarindo, CR several years ago. At about midnight, as I lay staring at the ceiling, 'tranquilo', yellow larvae began diffusing from the base of the lamp attached to the ceiling. For forty-five minutes they undulated within a three foot perimeter, then just as quickly disappeared back into the lamp. Who knows what they would have done had I not been aware of their presence. Perhaps bore their way into my brain.
i don't think you have much to worry about SG. the way they operate is really pretty cool. they catch a female mosquito, lay an egg on it and let it go. the mosquito then hunts down mammals and do their mosquito thing. as they're doing that, the egg senses the warm body, drops off and burrows into the mammal.
therefore, just wear mosquito repellent..
the reason people get hit in the head is because they think "I'm wearing a hat" which they later take off, or "I don't want mosquito repelent in my pretty hair."
thank god I'm bald.
