Bus Uncle Recording of an irate man on a bus in hong kong. Deep personal issues are explored. Is Bus Uncle the wampeter?
This was on the front page of the Wall Street Journal this morning (June 7, 06). The article mentions there are a few remixes. Anyone see anything?
I'm not sure if it is the same in Hong Kong, but in India any older man is addressed as uncle and your actual uncles have various monikers depending on how they are related to you. For example, your mother's older brother has a different name than your father's older brother.
and he is on a bus
I read a (since expired) yahoo news article that said this was the second most popular video on YouTube at the height of its popularity, which is just nuts. I do know that Bus Uncle got beat up. Searching google for "bus uncle remix" yields this and this little compendium page (text search for "remix").
In case you are wondering, in Mardarin Chinese (mainland, but not most of Hong Kong):
Bobo 伯伯 = Uncle (Father's older brother)
Shushu 叔叔 = Uncle (Father's younger brother)
Jiujiu 舅舅 = Uncle (Mother's brother)
i admit i liked cat's cradle. but I'm not one of those V-nuts who treads water on his public lecutures. But his books were just crazy enough to love. My other fave is breakfast of champions - so unlike anything.
thanks for the righting, ned.
oh, and treading water is a subconscious reference to the fictitious review in 'this is spinal tap' which described the band's choice of sexist cover art as 'treading water in a sea of retarded sexuality.'

Why, do you suppose, is he called "Bus Uncle"?
