Fewer Pirates = More Global Warming From http://www.venganza.org/
"You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters are a direct effect of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the 1800s. For your interest, I have included a graph of the approximate number of pirates versus the average global temperature over the last 200 years. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between pirates and global temperature"
I think the authors are falling into a very common pitfall for statistical analysis! Correlation doesn't prove causation. OBVIOUSLY THE NUMBER OF PIRATES IS FALLING BECAUSE THE TEMPERATURE IS RISING, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! Duh.
Yes, to elaborate on matthewlane's point--increased temperature => increased pirate fatigue => increased rum consumption => increased whenching => increased pirate fatigue => simultaneous liver fagigue/"hygenic" problems
Clearly all this boring talk about extinction and "El Nino" is crap. If we would just point out the ravages that global warming has put on the Carribean pirate, everyone would understand the changes we have to make NOW, lest noone ever again hear the words "yaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrr, lift the booty from this hear caaaaarrrrgo boat and set sail for skull island!"
Arrrr, it be all the carrrbon dioxide.
Actually, it's Congress' fault.
that article makes me sadface. those wacky arkansans!
Wipe that sadface off your emoticon.... as suspected by many the above letter was written with tongue in cheek.
Good thing Great tits cope well with warming. Just as Norma, Norma Stitz that is. (Say it out loud...)
