The Longest Game - When the game began, Wade Boggs was 22, 1740 fans were in the stadium, and CF Dallas Williams was hoping for a big day at the plate. When the game ended, 33 innings, 8:25 game-time hours, and more than two months later, Boggs would be 23, the stadium would be sold out, and D. Williams would have yoked himself an all-time collar: 0 for 13. In the meantime, 3B Cal Ripken would have breakfast, P Mark Corey would get drunk, P Luis Aponte would get in big trouble with his wife, and 12 hardy fans would receive season tickets for their fortitude.
The box score:
--------- 123 456 789 012 345 678 901 234 567 890 123 - R H E
ROCHESTER 000 000 100 000 000 000 001 000 000 000 000 - 2 18 3
PAWTUCKET 000 000 001 000 000 000 001 000 000 000 001 - 3 21 1
Speaking of quality relief pitching, how do closers pick their entrance music? Some do it by polling their hometown fans.

8:25 hours? That's nothing! Real sports go longer: How about a 43 game-hour Cricket Match. Played over 11 days between South Africa and England in 1939, it was called a draw after 846 first innings and 1135 second innings because England had to go home.
Though they guy's wife not lettitng him in was pretty funny.
