Da Vinci Code Puzzle has begun. Post hints and insights below. SPOILERS INSIDE!!!!
My machine is too slow to handle a lot of the flash animation crap. Dammit! Anyway, the first puzzle is a simple sudoku-like puzzle; solve it, and they ask you for the name of a given symbol. If you've read the book, you may know this, but there seem to be six symbols that feature heavily.
Poking around the movie trailer website, there is a 'characters' section that you can unlock, by clicking on hidden symbols in the 'gallery' paintings (where to find the symbols). The characters are each attached to a symbol (ROT13'd):
- Oynqr (cbvag hc gevnatyr) - Eboreg Ynatqba
- Naxu - Grnovat
- Punyvpr (cbvag qbja gevnatyr) - Fbcuvr Arirh
- Terrx (fdhner) Pebff - Nevatnebfn
- Puevfgvna Pebff - Fvynf
- Syrhe-qr-yvf - Ormh Snpur
Also, on the movie trailer website, there are places to 'peel back' the page; these often reveal three symbols which you can punch in on the bottom slider to get a clue (a cut scene or a picture of 'dials' with letters on them). Also there is mirror writing on the page -- haven't looked at that yet.
PS Please put hints in plaintext but ROT-13 anything that is an outright answer.
Is the first part of the puzzle figuring out how to get the link to work?
We added a layer of complexity for you. Consider it the first hurdle.
Hooray! The Da Vinci Code expert checks in!
Day 3:
- Syrhe-qr-yvf
- Ivgehivna Zna
- 11,881,376 = gjragl fvk gb gur svsgu: svir jurryf
The chess puzzles are not what you'd think -- when they say "sequence of three moves leading to checkmate," they mean (move by white, collaborative move by black, move by white) leading to checkmate. That's important if you're paying attention to hints that have been dropped.
what's up with "12,358 original puzzles"
are there that many?
quote:
That's right, 12,358 (I'd make a joke about Fibonacci numbers, but that would be too obvious).
oh ho ho! [snort] hahahaha-snort-ha! That is a good one. [wipes tear from eye]

man, that ROT-13 site is awesome, what a great idea! I'm going to have to use that more often.
