Why haven't all of my biking obsessed friends switched over to tall bikes?

I knew an art major back in my old school who did nothing but scuptures called "frankenbikes" These were workable bikes, but with horribly contorted welds and widely oversized dimensions. You haven't lived till you've seen someone ride by in a 20 ft bike with harley handlebars.
