Would the section about her childhood be considered a Portrait of the Autist as a Young Woman? 

she wrote an autobiographical book
Thinking in Pictures
which my roomate (the one whom flip worships because of her bookshelves, or rather, their contents) thought was rather interesting. she (not the roomate, but Dr. Grandin) is also, i believe, the first autistic to get a PhD.
