Makes me happy to see that this stupid ass idea is finally over. Atkins is dead and now so is his company.
Just a heads up, looks like the shuttle will be coming back on august 8th between about 3 and 5am. If it turns out the flight path will be visible from texas I highly suggest staying up to see it re-enter the atmosphere. I've seen it 3 times now and it's absolutely spectacular. If you catch it early you can see the earths curvature and it leaves a glowing plasma trail in its wake. Also, it only takes about 2 minutes to fly from horizon to horizon and it's unbelievable to think that people are actually in there. [more inside]
