Customization
Customizing a Philter is done in two ways:
Internal
Modification of interal Philter features (such as categories, user handling, and default list management) is acheived through the configuration script.
Interface
Modification of a Philter interface is acheived by creating index templates. MetaPhilter also comes with a useful set of default templates that you can modify as necessary.
A good place to start customizing the appearance of your Philter is in the default stylesheet, packaged as 'style.css' in the 'philter' directory. This stylesheet contains all the CSS rules used for HTML presentation.
A good place to start customizing the actual HTML of your Philter is in the 'index.tmpl' common template. This is used as the default HTML wrapper when formatting Philter data for the user. For more information on the tag system involved with these templates, consult the Tag Basics section.
Note: If you ever need to reference the default templates, the Default Templates section of the MetaPhilter site keeps a list of the templates packaged with the latest MePhi release.
